Evolution Fallout – WWE Raw – 29th October 2018

Raw 29th October

Ladies & gentlemen, welcome to another week of Monday Night Raw! We’re just 24 hours removed from the herstoric Evolution PPV, and only 4 days away from Crown Jewel, so WWE have a lot to work with. It’s also the first week of Raw without Roman Reigns, after his heartbreaking announcement last week. Anyway, let’s see what they have in store…

We kick off the show with a recap of Roman Reigns announcement that he was relinquishing the title last week, and the anointing of Vacant as champion in his stead. From that we go to the live arena, and Baron Corbin in the ring. He starts to talk, but is almost immediately interrupted by Brock Lesnar.

Paul Heyman says in 4 nights we’ll see history, as Lesnar takes back his Universal Title. He says that’s not a prediction, it’s a spoiler. He couldn’t be any clearer about this even if it was predetermined… why say that line? Heyman spouts more of his usual stuff, and out comes Braun Strowman. Braun keeps it simple: he says he will win, because Brock will get these hands.

Braun squares up to Brock, and Corbin tries to get between them. He shoves Corbin away, but Corbin starts to attack him from behind. Braun hits 3 Powerslams on Corbin, and as he gets back to his feet Lesnar drops him with an F5. Brock poses with the title, and heads straight for the airstrip…

First, have some music to set the mood for this segment:

In our main event segment of the evening we had the Brothers of Destruction come out to the ring to hype their match against DX this Friday at Crown Jewel. They tell a tale about the reaper, and how his whispering call has now become a deafening cry. Apparently at Crown Jewel, they will take the beaten souls of DX, for the first time and last time, to the fiery gates of hell. Taker says it won’t just be the End of an Era, it will be an End of their Error… WHAT?

Kane says tonight they are summoning DX to the ring right now. I guess he has new powers as Mayor or something. They want their souls so they may never rest… in… pee…

DX’s music hits before Taker can finish that last syllable. HHH comes out to the stage and flings some glowsticks to the crowd. He goes to the back to get Shawn Michaels, but Michaels appears in the ring and Sweet Chin Music’s Undertaker. He slides out of the ring and DX laugh, but Taker sits up. The lights go all blue and stuff, and they stare each other down as we go off the air.

We get a few recaps throughout the night of last week, both of Roman’s announcement, and of Dean Ambrose turning on Rollins after they won the tag titles. Seth Rollins came out to the ring on Raw to demand answers. He talks about what happened and about their history, and calls Ambrose out to face him like a man and explain his actions. Dean’s music hits, but there’s no sign of him. After a lengthy delay, he appears in the crowd…

Seth says last week he turned on the Shield at their toughest night, and this week he mocks them. He says Dean took a night that was supposed to be all about Roman and made it about himself. Dean slowly started to make his way down the steps, but Rollins decided he didn’t want to wait, which forced Dean to retreat. I guess this will be dragged out until after Crown Jewel…

  • Elias came out to the ring to remind us of how he broke a guitar off Baron Corbin last week. He decided he wanted to play Baron a song so he went backstage and played it outside his office. Jinder Mahal jumps Elias, Corbin makes a match between them, and Elias gets a win. Good to see Elias as a face, and think the sky is the limit for him here.

  • Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley for a 2nd week in a row, this time by DQ. Afterwards Lio Rush got a text from Baron Corbin. He says he’s going to reward Lashley for taking out Balor by adding him to the World Cup this Friday, at the expense of John Cena. Looks like the rumours of Cena refusing to work the Saudi show are true…
  • As the old saying goes, “nothing says historic like a 10-woman tag match”. In light of that inspirational quote, Trish Stratus, Lita, Bayley, Natalya & Sasha Banks defeated Riott Squad, Mickie James & Alicia Fox.

  • Nia Jax & Ember Moon has a truly shocking promo where Ember is all cheery about finishing 2nd in the Battle Royal at Evolution. Why have they ruined her character like this? Later they faced off in a match, and Nia got the win when they were both distracted by Tamina and Nia blindsided Ember. Nia & Tamina have a staredown afterwards.
  • Chad Gable & Bobby Roode won a triple threat match against AOP & Ascension. Ascension destroy all of them afterwards. Fair enough…
  • Lucha House Party made their Raw debut as a unit, and they defeated the Revival. I’m on the verge of giving up on Revival, just send them back to NXT so they can have a chance to show how damn good they are.
