It has been confirmed that Jack Wilshere, along with Santi Cazorla & Per Mertersaker, has been released by Arsenal. Surprisingly only 26, he moves on from the club he has been with since he was 9.
For the past few years Wilshere has been blighted by injury leaving him with limited game time for both club and country. Many felt that it was a surprise that he was left out of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad this summer and this may have influenced new Arsenal Coach, Unai Emery, to move on from the creative midfielder.
When fit Wilshere is one of the finest players in England. He can control and dictate the pace of a game and be the linchpin to unlock any defense.
Wilshere has openly said his preference would be to stay in England so he’ll be hoping that someone takes a gable on him, because that’s exactly what it will be, a gamble! If you are a manager of a Premier League team then you want to build your team around a nucleus of players and if you cant be confident of the fitness of one of these players then you’re leaving yourself open to be inconsistent.
According to the “super reliable” Sky Sports: “Wilshere has been linked with a number of clubs with Fenerbahce reportedly the latest club vying for his signature. Reports have also suggested Premier League sides Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Everton and Wolves are interested.”
Wherever he ends up he can be a huge player – IF he can keep fit.
