Spiderman PS4 Finally Has A Release Date

It’s a game that feels like it was revealed when our friend T-Rex was in short pants but Marvel’s Spiderman finally has a release date. After a long wait Spiderman swings onto PS4 this September 7th.

Sony have made a bit of a habit of announcing games far too early. We are still in the dark in terms of a release window for the Final Fantasy 7 remake which was announced 978 E3s ago. There’s a marketing stunt if there ever was one. Shenmue 3? Nothing. At least this one has a date!

Spiderman is being developed by Insomniac Games. Their last big outing was the criminally underrated Sunset Overdrive on Xbox One but Insomniac have a long history of Ratchet & Clank and Spyro The Dragon games as well as the acclaimed Resistance: Fall of Man series.

Arkham Senses Tingling

Spiderman has a certain “Arkham” series vibe to it in terms of the combat system. If Insomniac can even get close to the Rocksteady quality of action Spiderman will justify it’s almost certain gargantuan sales numbers. It’s set to be one of the biggest games of 2018. Sony have joined Activision in cleverly avoiding the late October Red Dead Redemption Vortex of Doom.

The release date and final box art have been revealed but Sony have also detailed the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions.

The Digital Deluxe will include post launch DLC titled The City That Never Sleeps. This includes three new chapters each with new missions, new villains, characters and additional suits for Spiderman. The Collector’s Edition includes all of the content from the digital deluxe edition as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, a mini artbook and an Spiderman statue.

There is also a new trailer which you can see below.

Marvels Spiderman releases worldwide on Sept 7th exclusively for PS4. Well, you know, hopefully. The date might slip…because video games.

Whatever I am actually employed to do I probably did it earlier. It's on your desk, I'd say. Its safe to say that I call 'em as I see 'em. Be warned, I hate a lot of things. It's easier to count the things that I do like. I probably hate you.
