Rest of the Wrasslin’ 29th Dec 2017

Rest 29 12

This week’s roundup for the Rest of the Wrasslin’ covers this week’s 205 Live and NXT shows. Highlights include Drew Gulak as always and a fantastic Fatal 4 Way for the No. 1 Contender to the NXT Title.

205 Live 26/12/17

Drew Gulak

Drew always gets his own topic.

Cedric: You waiting on your boss to call?

Drew: Why would Sasha Banks call me?

Cedric Alexander tries to convince Drew that 205 Live would be better without Enzo as champ. Said it would be a better 205 Live for everyone. Enzo wasn’t there because he was on the Madison Square Garden house show the same night. We almost get a Powerpoint Presentation reviewing a list of the best of the year but it gets interrupted again. We’ll never get one again. Cedric and Ali try to convince both Gulak and Daivari that Enzo would choose Nia over them. Cedric and Ali then beat them in a match after Gulak tries to make Daivari get down from the top rope causing a distraction.

Itami Don’t Knee’d This

Hideo Itami managed to give The Brian Kendrick a broken face on Raw so no more GTS it seems. Itami broke out Neville’s Rings of Saturn as a new finish for the win instead tonight. Kinda sucks if he can’t use the GTS anymore. Accidents happen. Japanese guys love breaking orbital sockets it seems. After Nakamura breaking Austin Aries’ one, and now Itami breaking Kendrick’s one, is anyone ready for Asuka?

Nese Aboard the Zo’ Train?

Tony Abs doesn’t know if he is still a part of the Zo’ Train. He wants to kick all of their asses. But also money money, yeah yeah. Tozawa asks him if he is on or off the train and gets punched in the face. They also have a match which Tony wins. Hard-hitting match though. And we still don’t know Nese’s Zo’ Train status.

Quick Match Results

Hideo Itami def. Jack Gallagher by Submission

Tony Nese def. Akira Tozawa by Pinfall

Mustafa Ali & Cedric Alexander def. Drew Gulak & Ariya Daivari by Pinfall

NXT 27/12/17

No 1 Contender’s Fatal 4 Way for the NXT Title

Killian Dain, Johnny Gargano, Lars Sullivan & Aleister Black went to battle. Somehow Johnny Gargano comes out the winner and new No. 1 Contender. He wasn’t even supposed to be in the tournament. And Aleister Black’s undefeated streak comes to an end. There was interference to cause it though from Undisputed Era so it’s grand. Fantastic Match though.

Highlights: Dain did a suicide dive. All 3 men team up to put Lars through a table. Gargano slingshots straight into a Knee from Black. Lars and Dain big man faceoff. Black hits Black Mass but the Undisputed Era interfere and drag Black away to break up the pin. Payback for Black eliminating Cole from the tournament. Gargano gets the win with a Slingshot DDT on Black.

NXT Women’s Title Match

Sonya Deville pops back down from Raw to challenge Ember Moon for the NXT title. So I was technically correct with my prediction from Takeover that whoever won that match would be the new No.1 Contender. This is now the 3rd time I’m saying this but this should be Sonya’s last NXT appearance. No in ring introduction for some reason. Ember retains her title. Not sure why they had that match. I suppose it means Ember has defended her title and since they are lacking in heel women at the moment in NXT, it gives some variety.

After the match Kairi Sane came out on the stage, looked at Ember through her telescope motioned for the belt. Kairi got choked out from behind by a debuting Shayna Baszler. So Triple Threat match at Takeover Philly maybe?

Montez Ford’s got the Charisma

Montez Ford showing off all the skills again this week. Street Profits took on a couple of big ass jobbers including discount JBL and put them away pretty handily. Lovely Frog Splash from Ford, crazy height on it. Street Profits celebrated in the crowd and cut a promo on all the other tag teams saying they were coming for them in 2018. Ford’s parts were good. Dawkins said some things too.

Street Profits def. Jobbers by Pinfall
