Welcome to my 2Bits on this week’s NXT. This week show was recorded the night of NXT Takeover WarGames so had that hot Houston crowd. There will be a bunch of recaps of WarGames on this show so I’m gonna skip all those bits. You can check out my recap of it here if you missed it.
In original content for this show, we’ve got 2 matches so let’s get to them.
So we get the battle that originally seemed like it was to determine the next No. 1 contender but after the happenings on Raw and Smackdown this week, they are both now up on the main roster so apparently that is all for nought.
The announcers have dubbed parts of this over making reference to what happened on Raw and Smackdown. Continuity and all that. Super important to WWE. Deville working on Riot’s ankle which Ruby sells very well. Smart offense from Sonya with strikes and submissions, all working towards her MMA character. Riot hits Deville with a Diving Paydirt through the ropes.
Riot with an STO and then a Springboard Senton onto Deville. All while still on one leg. Deville gets an Armbar and then an Anklelock on Riot. Ruby gets to the ropes. Ruby gets a Riot Kick onto Deville and then gets the 3 count for the win.
Nice match for the last NXT match for both of them. Probably the best they both have had so far in their WWE careers.
Promo with Lars Sullivan after his match at Takeover. He said this was only the beginning and he dominated and some big words. He says that if anyone else in the locker wants to get his way, they will be destroyed by his hands.
Promo with Ember Moon after winning the title at Takeover. She says that all the hard work she put in over the years has finally paid off. She says that now that the title is around her waist, it will be hard to get it off of here (The title was not around her waist as she said this)
Interview with Drew after losing his title at Takeover. He says he felt something go in his elbow/bicep area but won’t know anything until the doctor looks at it. He says once he is back, he will be coming for his NXT title.
We see a clip from last week where Street Profits are dancing on a car with fans when Sabbatelli and Moss come up and start talking shit. They end up backing away and the Street Profits continue dancing, this time with no music while chanting “No Music”.
Video of SAnitY and Undisputed Era leaving after WarGames. Adam Cole says that now everyone knows that this is their NXT.
Dueling Johnny Wrestling/Bruiserweight chants from the start. The crowd are up for this one. They have some chain wrestling then a faceoff. Dunne then forearms Johnny right in the face. Gargano with a Senton off the ring apron onto Dunne on the outside. The chants are still going. Tornado DDT blocked by Dunne and reversed into flipping Gargano onto the apron with a Rolling Release Suplex. That’s the hardest part of the ring, you know.
Dunne manipulating the fingers of Gargano while he has him in a grapevine and gets dropped on his head for his troubles. Johnny gets Dunne with a Slingshot Spear and follows up with a Tope to the outside into a DDT. Gargano goes for a slingshot DDT to Dunne but it gets blocked and countered into an XPlex Suplex. Gargano gets a Headscissors takedown into a Gargano Escape. Dunne takes out his mouthguard and bites Johnny’s finger to break it up,. Bitter End countered into a small package for a 2 count. Forearms and a stepup insiguri by Dunne and then Johnny takes him down with a discus clothesline.
Johnny has Dunne’s mouthguard in his hand so he superkicks Dunne in the face for a 2 count. Clothesline and forearms from Johnny to Dunne. Then goes for another Slingshot spear but gets hit with an uppercut followed by The Bitter End and Dunne retains the title.
That was an awesome match. I’m so glad they aired it instead of just being a dark match like originally advertised. Keeps Dunne looking strong and keeps Johnny on his losing streak still waiting for Ciampa to come back. We’re back to regular scheduled NXT stuff next week. See you then.
